Green Gram Dhal Sambar
Ingredients:
Green gram dhal - 1 cup
Onions -2 (chopped)
Tomatoes - 4 (chopped)
Green Chillies - 3 or 4 (chopped lengthwise)
Tamarind - walnut size
Turmeric - 1/4 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Curry leaves - few
Seasonings:
Mustard - 1/2 teaspoon
Urad dhal - 1 teaspoon
Fenugreek seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
Red chillies -2
Asafetida - 1/4 teaspoon
Oil - 3 teaspoons
Preparing Method
Pressure cook dhal with turmeric, green chilly and garlic till done. Pressure cook again with tamarind juice,onions, chopped tomatoes, green chillies and salt to it and enough water to cook for 2 whistles. Add asafetida powder and allow it to cook until cooked flavour comes
Heat the oil in a kadai and do the seasonings and add the dhal mixture. Serve with idly, dosai and even rice.
